NWO-project Dutch Fashion Identity in a Globalised World
Together with prof.dr. Anneke Smelik (Radboud University) and dr. Michiel Scheffer (prof. Textile Technology at Saxion University of applied sciences ), prof. dr. Dany Jacobs ( University of Amsterdam and professorship Art, Culture and Economy of both ArtEZ Institute of the Arts and HAN University of Applied Sciences) and prof. José Teunissen ( professorship Fashion and Design ArtEZ) received a proposal for a multidisciplinary research program concerning the Dutch fashion identity within the framework of the Cultural Dynamics program of the NWO (Dutch Organization for Scientific Research).

It is not only the first time that the NWO remunerates a project in the field of fashion, it is also the first time that HBO-institutes (Higher Vocational Education institutes) are an important partner in NWO-research. Particular is also that private funds which are linked with fashion (for example Fund Meester Koetsier, Foundation Premsela), take part in the cofinancing of the project.

The program also includes four PhD-projects linked closely with each other: Cultural history: Dutch fashion from the sixties till now; Cultural studies: The performance or identity through fashion; Social Economics and Business: The construction or brand identities by designers and consumers; Human Geography: Dutch fashion industry in a globalised market.

Meanwhile the four PhD candidates are brought in. The project started in September 2008. For further information, please visit the website: http://www.nwo.nl/nwohome.nsf/pages/NWOA_7C2FZY?Opendocument.
